What if the Kim Kardashians of the world oversaturated our virtual intake, social media, Facebook, what-have-you, 24-7? It would definitely be a chaotic mindfuck and perhaps something like Post Plastica—the part sci-fi tale, part art show, full-on campy universe created by playwright, actor, and performance artist Carmelita Tropicana (a/k/a Alina Troyano). Tropicana, an Obie award recipient, collaborated with her sister, the award-winning writer-director Ela Troyano, to vivify this piece, set in a not-too-distant future in which “celebrity culture has pitched a battle between the primacy of virtual and artistic lives; revolutionaries keep bees in a secret underground; and a half-woman, half-bear scientist has gained the upper hand.” Becca Blackwell and Erin Markey are also in the cast.
