CH-CH-CHANGES

In an interview, playwright Nicky Silver once said: “I’m filled with angst. And even when I can get rid of some angst, it’s replaced by new angst. It’s a bottomless well.” Yet in recent years, it’s seemed like that well may have run rather dry. It’s been four years since Silver’s last New York production, Beautiful Child, and another four since the one before that, The Altruists. But Silver’s angst water-table is apparently showing healthier levels, since he’s debuting a comedy titled Three Changes at Playwrights Horizons. The script concerns a contented UWS couple, shaken by the surprising arrival of the husband’s Hollywood-tainted brother. In fact, Hollywood provides much of the cast, with small-screen luminaries Dylan McDermott and Maura Tierney as well as Scott Cohen, Aya Cash, and Brian J. Smith. Wilson Milan directs.
