Fang Island call the first song on their new record “Kindergarten,” which tells you a lot about the Brooklyn trio’s sound (if not
their target demo): Throughout Major—an album title RISD grads Jason Bartell, Chris Georges, and Marc St. Sauveur say was
inspired in part by the “Valley girl colloquialism”—Fang Island bash out their catchy big-rock riffs with a refreshingly simpleminded glee, like five-year-olds slinging DayGlo finger paint for nothing but the fun of it. Tonight, they return home for the final show of a month-long U.S. tour; expect an even more triumphant experience than they usually offer.
