Despite her long-term marriage to, erm, my dad, my mom would happily trade it all for a night of sin with pop-star trumpeter Chris Botti. And who could blame her? Chet Baker proved the undeniable attraction that both blonde and brass brings to the masses. Having performed with both Sinatra and Scritti Politti, Botti could be poised for the same infamy, adorning his standards with a muted, empathic tone that transforms even "Silent Night" into a mystical state of pleasure—hopefully not one my mom will be experiencing with the Grammy-nominated, smooth jazz mainstay.
