It’s the age of mash-ups: Characters from Frozen dance to “Thriller” on YouTube, and grafting Star Wars onto Dr. Who has become a cottage industry. But the all-time champ at mixing the culture with the pop is R. Sikoryak, whose Masterpiece Comics Theater opens tonight. Combining works like Hamlet and Dennis the Menace, Superman and The Stranger, and Peanuts and The Metamorphosis (“Good Ol’ Gregor Brown,” a hapless cockroach in a yellow zigzag shirt), Sikoryak uses projections, voice actors, and live sound effects to bring his Frankenstein creations to life.
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays-Sundays, 8:15 p.m. Starts: June 16. Continues through June 18, 2014
