With the football season winding down and the Super Bowl only a few weeks away, joining a flag football team may minimize the withdrawal pains—and get you some fresh air and maybe even work off some holiday pounds. "Frostbite football" starts today, as the New York Social Sports Club kicks off their flag-football winter season. The NYSCC specializes in co-ed sports leagues with post-game bar specials, including Broomball and Office Chair Polo, and their flag football league is played all over the city. This no-contact version of American football is played six on six, with every player wearing two flags on a belt. You and your team must move the football into the end zone by running and passing the ball. (The flags take the place of those joint-crunching tackles.) Every game, of course, is followed by post-game parties. This league is so popular they are full up on new teams, but individuals can contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org, and they will work you in to an existing team.
