Taking to heart the adage Laughter is the best medicine, comedian Pam Murphy has crafted The C Word, a hit solo show about her year-long fight against breast cancer, now having a return engagement at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Murphy takes the audience through her heartbreaking diagnosis, surgery, and treatment up to her rocky first blind date post-mastectomy at which she immediately breaks it down for him: These are fake. Dont get too excited. . . . This nipple is made out of that nipple, and this areola is just a tattoo. And then she recognizes her dates confusion: Karen didnt tell you I had breast cancer? Did she tell you I smoke?
