Cursive+Cymabls Eat Guitars
Although the ever-anxious Omaha rockers have toured with Mastodon in past years, Cursive have been indulging their heavier qualities more than usual on recent albums. Not to say that frontman Tim Kasher is screaming about astral projection and playing Yngwie solos, but between keyboard-saturated songs that sound like concrete-mixer-heavy takes on Pavement’s catalog, the emo-rock–era elder statesmen are skronking a little harder and stomping more on the backbeat, making for more screams than whispers.
