Dance of the Enchantress
(Adoor Gopalakrishnan, 2007).
This impeccably made doc on the subject of the Indian classical dance form, Mohiniyattam, was directed by the leading South Indian auteur director Gopalakrishnan, assisted by dance historian Brigitte Chataignier. The film incorporates not just stunning dance sequences but occasional shots of the lives of students who train and perform in and around the temples and palaces of Kerala. Choreographer Rajika Puri will introduce both screenings of the film.
