As its title seems to suggest, last year’s Break the Spell didn’t quite rise to the pop-metal standard set by Daughtry’s first two albums. (Dude’s best when giving into his wimpy-glammy side à la “Home,” truly a power ballad for the ages.) Never thought I’d say this, but butt-rock believers might be better off saving their money and making the drive down to Camden later this month for Shinedown, whose new Amaryllis has some surprising flair.
