For you boomer classic-rock fans still keeping score, this English institution is now on their eighth lineup but features 3 out of 5 of their late '60s/early '70s roster (you know, when they were still interesting?). The bad news is, this doesn't include Ritchie Blackmore--but to compensate, David Coverdale is nowhere to be found. In the old school metal sweepstakes, Deep Purple aren't as flashy as AC/DC or KISS (or even Aerosmith), but at least "Smoke On the Water" and "Highway Star" are worth raising your cig-lighter phone app.
