Instrumental trio Dirty Three are one of Australia's finest exporters of that stormy, orchestral, introspection thang, the kind of tension and release perfect for movie scores or a bohemian funeral. For the last several years, you've seen all three of them playing in or around NYC: Percussionist master Jim White plays with Cat Power and White Magic (to name a few), violin wiz Warren Ellis is a permanent member of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds and Grinderman projects (as well as doing lots of movie scoring with Cave), and loop-y guitar ace Mick Turner has been doing solo stuff. Now that we hear their influence all over the place in newer bands, a reunion is overdue. With Pillars and Tongues.
