Captured Tracks is the label of Brooklyn scenenik Mike Sniper, and thats the long n short beauty of it; the imprint releases what he loves, when he loves it, in large enough dispatches to be accessible to less snobby local buzz compatriots. The rock-heavy roster joins with Woodsist and indie promoter czar Todd P for the two-day Woodsist/Captured Tracks Festival at the genially apocalyptic 979 Broadway Backyard. The heady rock/psych/folk/punk/electro/cherry-on-top lineup: Crystal Stilts, Blank Dogs, Psychedelic Horseshit, caUSE co-MOTION!, etc., on Friday, and Thee Oh Sees, Vivian Girls, Kurt Vile, Woods, etc., on Saturday. Now this is independence.
