DOUBLE THE FUN
Tonight poses a huge dilemma for fans of great literature because there are two amazing readings taking place at roughly the same time. First, Opium Magazine is hosting its Literary Death Match, in which four authors (Michael Atkinson, Daniel Nester, Nelly Reifler, and Christopher Kennedy) read their work before a panel of esteemed judges (The Paris Review's Caitlin Roper, musician Emily Zuzik, and writer Jess Grose), who then pick two finalists to battle it out in a hilarious challenge round (recently, one involved shooting down a remote-control helicopter with a dart gun). Or celebrate the one-year anniversary of the culture website The Rumpus at One Year Later in New York, with readings by Rivka Galchen, Tao Lin, Deb Olin Unferth, Justin Taylor, and Rumpus editor Stephen Elliott, music by Alina Simone and Diane Louvel, and a video art installation by Monofonus. Oh, decisions, decisions. Literary Death Match at 8, Bowery Poetry Club, 308 Bowery, literarydeathmatch.com, $10; One Year Later in New York at 7, Broadway East, 171 East Broadway, therumpus.net, $
