Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell

Emmylou Harris’s music begins with country megastardom and works it way outward from there. The Alabama-born singer doesn’t balk at genre boundaries and defies pigeonholing with unflinching badassery. After Harris earned her stripes in the early seventies, singing backup for Gram Parsons, she perfected her own brands of country and bluegrass, taking cues from The Louvin Brothers as she developed her vocal style, centered around close harmony and dueting. Since then, she’s done acoustic material and classic rock, topped pop charts and country charts alike, always with an outlaw’s confidence and a voice as pure as clarified butter.
