Eniaios: Cycle Five
Dir. Gregory Markopoulos (2004). This 4 ½ hour chunk of Markopouloss 22-cycles magnum opus begins as a slow flicker film, alternating opaque blackness with white light and gradually introducing split-second images of stone walls, ruins, rural landscapes. Rarefied yet visceral, Eniaios is pure cinema, a monumentunyielding and elusiveto fleeting sensation.
