Erik Friedlander's Bonebridge Band
Downtown cellist Erik Friedlander delves into his mellower side on Bonebridge, a rootsy foray into the pizzicato of the other side of the tracks. The formidable avant-garde fixture enlists Memphis heavy-hitter Doug Wamble and longtime collaborators Mike Sarin and Trevor Dunn, and the freewheeling result is about as seamless as the country pairing of Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. Fans of Friedlander might be shocked by how inside he can be and folksy types by how far out he takes it, but there are enough trippy twists and turns on this hayride to keep it interesting for everyone.
