Ethan Lipton & His Orchestra
Songwriter Ethan Lipton is an ambivalent nostalgist with a playwright's ear (because he is one) for conversational lyrics. On his cautionary third album, Honker, the dry singer and his elegantly spacious trio perform songs about bicycles, Tupperware, guilt, pit bulls, hippies, Internet love, and the afterlife. It's like a peek into a curio shop from a hundred years ago.
