This lineup of underground metal bands might be the year's best. Not only does each one play a different style of the genre, but as the night goes on, they progressively get better and more ingenious, from the down-tuned doom of Brooklyn's own Tombs to the Southern-fried sludge metal of EyeHateGod. Dreamy black-metal band Nachtmystium are touring on the just-released Addicts: Black Meddle, Part Two, a sonic kick in the pants of psychedelia and (gasp) even a trance number. And watching Brutal Truth drummer Rich Hoak fully Taz out behind his kit is worth the admission price alone. With Black Anvil.
