(Jacques Doillon, 1985). Generational conflicts, particularly between fathers and daughters, have been a constant element in Doillon's work, and this affecting story is no exception. Sami Frey is excellent as a 40-something dude who has divorced and remarried and now attempts to mend the breaches in his relationship with his young daughter by his first marriage. Most of the picture is in the form of a road movie as the two take a trip from the south of France into Spain.
