Want to cultivate your own herbs and food but don’t have a garden? No problem. 3rd Ward is giving you the tools to create your own sustainable plot in your tiny apartment. Urban Food Production for the Landless, a class led by Meg Paska, Greenpoint resident and owner of four egg-laying hens and 10 apiaries, shows you how to make terrariums for edible herbs and greens, grow oyster mushrooms in espresso grounds, and more, by simply using recycled materials. Students are asked to bring several recycled containers, such as plastic milk jugs, small cardboard boxes, and glass containers like ball jars a half-pint or larger for terrariums.
