Few have navigated the unstable terrain of contemporary commercial hip-hop better than Pittsburgh’s Wiz Khalifa: After lurking through the end of the aughts building a fanbase around reliable weed raps and occasional moments of brilliance (check out “Say Yeah,” his 2007 attempt at rapping over Euro-house), Wiz has now emerged as a star on his own terms, starring in a movie alongside perennial stoner fav Snoop Dogg, releasing top 10 hit “Young, Wild & Free,” and headlining a tour that’s been selling out some of the biggest arenas in the country. Tonight, that tour comes to Long Island’s Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, bringing not only Wiz but Chevy Woods and two of the more interesting rappers to come out of L.A. since the Doggfather himself: Black Hippy’s Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolBoy Q.
