Seven-piece Celtic punk band Flogging Molly take their roots in booze, Irish history, poverty, politics, death, love, and the Roman Catholic Church and manage to make it not just hooky, but fun. With Dave Kind’s flat accent, and instruments ranging from the bodhrán and mandolin to the fiddle and spoons, Flogging Molly puts a unique, Gallic spin on punk. Maybe you only recognize their music from that pub that always plays “Drunken Lullabies,” but you can nod your head to the fact that they know how to romp and rock.
