In his Four Tet guise, avant-garde electronic artist Kieran Hebden stitches together lavish quilts of noise, micro melodies, and lots and lots of drums. He makes post–dance music that's more ornate than what your average Long Island club plays but not so highbrow that it only appeals to music critics. Over the past few years, he's shifted paradigms between his usual Four Tet sound cocktails and experimental jazz (his longtime collaborator, drummer Steve Reid, passed away in April), and his Four Tet release this year, There Is Love in You, seems to boast something for everyone. With Jon Hopkins and Gold Panda.
