Pliability defines the pianist's work with bassist John Hébert and drummer Eric McPherson. The two are always tugging at each other, but there's seldom friction. Instead, a beveled swirl appears, and it bolsters both hard swing and soft rumination. Their "Whirl" could be an escapist anthem, a jittery crescendo to get lost in.
