The 25-year-old Téa Obreht is one of those rising stars (she made The New Yorkers list of the best 20 writers under 40) who you might say is so good shes scary (our Best of New York issue named her Best New York Writer Young Enough to Make You Slit Your Wrists). So, we suppose its only fitting that someone with such terrifying powers should be reading her work tonight at Harpers Magazines Halloween event Monsters: A Celebration of Villainy, Exploitation, and Abuse. The evenings stellar program also includes 2009 Pulitzer finalist Christine Schutt (All Souls) and Wells Tower (Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned), who also made that New Yorker list.
