Happy 10th birthday, Generate Records! May your young soul shine for decades to come. The indie jazz label, founded by Brooklyn skinsman Jeff Arnal, has released some of the area's more engrossing avant-garde and experimental post-bop in their short, storied arc, and they'll flaunt it at Roosevelt Island's supercool Generate Records Jazz Festival. Be sure to saunter over for Aperiodic, a curious troupe that spit sitar-like synth trills and proggy percussion, and Arnal's set with Ernesto Diaz-Infante, a brooding collaboration that promises moody hues and long-form, lo-fi extrapolations.
