On the heels of the New York International Latino Film Festival comes another film series celebrating the talents of young Mexicans who are truly revolutionizing cinema. GenMex: Recent Films From Mexico, presented by Celebrate Mexico Now (a 10-day citywide festival offering an introduction to contemporary Mexican art and culture), will showcase nine movies curated by Carlos Gutiérrez of Cinema Tropical. The works, many of which are by first-time directors, touch on a range of topics, from immigration (Northless) to gay romance (Raging Sun, Raging Sky). On Sunday at 3:30, catch rising director Gerardo Naranjo's Drama/Mex, which follows two stories on one hot day in Acapulco.
