Go With Peace Jamil
(Omar Shargawi, 2008).
Triple threat talent Shargawi wrote the script and acts in his impressive directorial debut, an edgy thriller set in the Muslim community of Copenhagen that depicts an endless cycle of hatred, revenge, and murder pitting Sunnis against Shias. Protagonist Jamil avenges the murder of his mother, only to trigger a blood feud of Shakespearean proportions. The film is also an intense study of masculinity, populated as it is mostly by sweaty muscular hunks who are clearly saddled with problems of sexual identity.
