Does Stephen Malkmus sound old on Mirror Traffic, his latest record with post-Pavement outfit the Jicks? Maybe. But certainly not in any pejorative sense of the word. Coming off a world tour in which that other band (remember them?) sold out arenas, festivals, and our own Central Park, Malkmus mixes maturity with his signature cheekiness, often to the point that the two become tough to tell apart (see: the home-on-the-range hook on "Long Hard Book"). Expect tonight's show to be as intriguing to college students as it will be reassuring to Park Slope parents.
