HANGING BY A THREAD
New Jersey–born artist Erika Vogt has created a minefield inside the New Museum’s lobby gallery, except here the hazards are floating all around you. “Stranger Debris Roll Roll Roll” is the first museum solo show by the CalArts and Whitney Biennial alumna, whose past works have explored the ritual use and exchange of objects. With an array of cast plaster and found objects dangling from a series of pulleys, this multimedia exhibition aims to investigate the relationship between people and things. The show also includes a series of onscreen images featuring Vogt’s most recent videos, in which objects are exchanged while the sound resonates in the space.
Mondays-Sundays, 10 a.m. Starts: June 5. Continues through Sept. 22, 2013
