(Andy Warhol, 1964).
Andy Warhol's first talkie, based on an idea by Ronald Tavel (and the then current Jean Harlow revival), features Mario Montez as a banana-eating odalisque, with Tavel and two confreres discussing Hollywood stars somewhere off-screen. The image is stark, the sound is nearly inaudible, the template was established: Harlot is as much object as movie.
Wednesdays-Fridays, 1:30 p.m. Starts: June 3. Continues through June 5, 2009
