HEART OF A MAN
In 2006, director Jonathan Demme directed Neil Young: Heart of Gold, an extensive documentary on the musician, his family, his peers, and, of course, his music, but Demme wasn't done with Young just yet. The award-winning filmmaker (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, Rachel Getting Married) followed Young for two nights during his Chrome Dreams II tour in 2007 and shot the Neil Young Trunk Show, capturing the Canadian in his element on a small theater stage in Pennsylvania. Demme filmed this intimate concert highlighting Young's "Cinnamon Girl" and a 20-minute version of 2007's "No Hidden Path," and has said that perhaps a third installment in a Young trilogy would have him filming the artist outdoors. Perhaps he'll give more insight on the subject at tonight's screening, which includes a talk with the director.
