When faced with issues of fear, anxiety, and isolation, it's easy to pop a pill to make it all go away. But artist Chet Zar handles his troubles differently. A painter from San Pedro, California, Zar takes his dark thoughts and blends them with haunting, horror-film-inspired imagery for memorably creepy results. As a designer and sculptor, Zar has had his work featured in films such as The Ring, Hellboy I & II, and Planet of the Apes. And his sinister style caught the eye of metal band Tool, who commissioned him to create the 3-D animation for their live shows. As Tool guitarist Adam Jones perfectly sums it up, "Chet's art is beautiful and scary."
Mondays-Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: April 10. Continues through May 10, 2010
