Dir. George Cukor (1938). Cukor's 1940 adaptation of Philip Barry's play, The Philadelphia Story with Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant, was a huge success, but his underrated screen version of Barry's Holiday, made two years earlier, with Grant as a nonconformist outsider who falls for rebellious society girl Hepburn, although not a box office hit, is subtle and delightful, a much better film.
