"Theres definitely, definitely, definitely no logic to human behavior," sings Björk. But that hasnt stopped Brooklyn-based artist Benjamin Bertocci from trying to make sense of it all. In his new show, Stutter, Bertocci, who also works as a studio painter at Jeff Koons Studios, explores human failings by creating layered (or "stuttered") collages composed of digital prints on canvas, paper, or aluminum and oil painting, so that "the subjects are metaphorically hindered from progression by their own shortcomings, as represented by the inability for the subjects to be viewed in their totality." In other words, what you see is not exactly what you get.
