I LOVE MY BFF
New Yorkers have an affinity for bicycles (they’re as common as taxicabs), whether riding for pleasure or transport, so it’s only natural that there’s a film festival that completely revolves around these two-wheelers. The Bicycle Film Festival, which began in 2001 after the founder Brendt Barbur decided to turn his bike accident (being hit by a bus while riding his bike in the city) into a positive celebration of the bicycle through music, art, and film. This year’s festival, which has gone global, is the biggest yet, including a series of film programs, such as the “Urban Bike Short,” which is screening Camper Bike, about Kevin Cyr, a Brooklynite, who combined his love of camping and biking and created his own “camper bike,” among others.
Thursdays-Sundays, noon. Starts: June 28. Continues through July 1, 2012
