Long before popular behemoths began remaking the DJ in the image of rock stars, the craft was primarily honed over years of anonymous remixes and thankless touring. German producer Ian Pooley has been grinding it out for 20 years, and has the imprimatur of everyone from the Berlin-based dreamers Innervisions to robotic duo Daft Punk, who remixed Pooley's 1990's hit "Chord Memory." Catch the fruit of his labors when Pooley plays all night at the Panther Room, a recent addition to Williamsburg nightclub Output.
