I'm Gonna Explode
(Gerardo Naranjo, 2008). Boldly transposing Pierrot le Fou to a Mexico City suburb, Gerardo Naranjo's self-consciously triumphantly tragicomic third feature puts a pair of disaffected high-school students on the road to nowhere. Godard isnt travestied so much as poignantly and downsized. Whats most authentic about Im Gonna Explode is Naranjos realization that you cant go home again.
