Performance artist and playwright Taylor Mac's previous body of work could be most simplistically described as touching, rallying, and caked in glitter. But Mac's not one for simple. Add to the above puppets, flowers, Japanese Noh, "a million sequins," and more than 40 performers (and six directors!), and you've got The Lily's Revenge, Mac's five-part spectacle exploring queer culture, the homogenization of the city, and the action of a community. The "genre-squishing" tale centers on a marriage-minded flower who wishes to become a man so that it may wed, and ends up in the middle of a flower revolution.
Thursdays-Sundays, 6:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 29. Continues through Nov. 22, 2009
