IN THE ZONE
Increasingly enormous Australian band Cut Copy live somewhere between the endless sweatstorm of dance music, the cuddly neon warmth of contemporary indie pop, and the nostalgic pulse of '80s new wave. New album Zonoscope is as likely to sound like Men at Work as Yeasayer, but always existing in the middle of some magical Venn diagram where "shruggy cool" meets "secretly happy to be alive." Joining them tonight and tomorrow is New York's own Holy Ghost!, DFA's synth-punk secret weapon. For Wednesday night's show, Holy Ghost! will be replaced by Midnight Magic, the nimble Brooklyn "disco house" crew who have a soft spot for diva vocals and funky hi-hats.
Fri., April 1, 8 p.m.; Sat., April 2, 8 p.m.; Wed., April 6, 8 p.m., 2011
