Inside/Out voices from the disability community
Whether you think blind American Idol contestant Scott MacIntyre deserves to be a finalist or not, there's no denying he's got some talenttry doing Jackson Five choreography blindfolded and see how you fare. Scott's been a guest performer with VSA Arts, a 35-year-old organization that helps provide access to the arts for people with disabilities. The org also commissioned Obie-winning theater director and oral historian Ping Chong to create a docu-script based on the stories of seven people in the disability community, which will be performed by the participants themselves—many of them artists—tonight and tomorrow.
