Intentions of Murder
(Shohei Imamura, 1964). The heroine is an ordinary housewife who is raped. Through the rape and her burgeoning sexuality, she eventually gains the strength to insists upon her rights and wins a victory over patriarchy. One of the director's major works, it's a confirmation of his belief in the basic irrationality of human existence.
