IT'S A BIRD, IT'S A PLANE
Whoever said New Yorkers only wear black is about to stand corrected. Today, seersucker suits, pastels, and hats come together, even in New York, for "the most exciting two minutes in sports": The 135th Kentucky Derby will be shown live at the Bell House in Brooklyn for those of us who can't quite make it to Louisville. The event includes authentic Derby traditions, including mint juleps and a performance of "My Old Kentucky Home." After the race comes live-band karaoke—not even box seats at Churchill Downs have that. And to top it off, prizes will be given for the best-dressed man as well as the best hat. Regardless of the size of your brim, if you're looking to bring out your inner Southern belle, head to the Bell House. Bar opens at 1, tailgating BBQ from 2 to 5, free mint julep happy hour from 5 to 6
