Jack DeJohnette, Danilo Perez & John Patitucci
The pianist (Perez) and bassist (Patitucci) read each other's minds on Wayne Shorter's dime, plying abstractions with the most solid musical sense around. The drummer (DeJohnette) is the epitome of an outside-in elaborationist; his flurries seem to spill all over the place while he leads you gently by the hand. Their new CD has a grin on its face as it splashes and prays and sometimes acts a bit too giddy for its own good. Want to discover what they mean by intra-group chemistry? Here's your chance.
