Neither the most prolifically bearded member of Broken Social Scene (that would be Kevin Drew), nor the one with the big glasses (drummer Justin Peroff), Jason Collett's amicable AM gold gets pushed to the forefront at this Mercury Lounge showcase, part of a high profile touring project entitled "The Bonfire Ball." The former woodworker strips the sunny pop of Kris Kristofferson and Tom Petty to its alt-rock roots on this year's Rat a Tat Tat (recorded in Leslie Feist's cabin), backed by his placid house band Zeus that will play their own Kinks-y psychedelia between sets.
