JOY FOR RENT
In life, there are only two moments: the one before you learn the original meaning of "Joy Division," and the one after. And if you havent yet experienced the latter, well, we cringe for you already. The band of the late 1970s who adopted the tragic moniker were ingenious pioneers of the British post-punk movement, though they were felled by the suicide of young singer Ian Curtis; they quickly reformed as New Order and enjoyed a lengthy career until 2007s disbandment. Bassist Peter Hook was the constant in both bands and the most public figure after Curtiss passing; tonight, he honors the 30th anniversary of his fallen mate by performing Joy Divisions seminal debut Unknown Pleasures in its entirety. Its as close to "Day of the Lords" as youll ever get from these tumultuous lads of yesterday.
