Less the Band, a rock group staffed by playwright Adam Rapp and four Off-Broadway thespians, offer a Coney Island of the mind at the Kitchen. Astroland, New Yorks largest amusement park, shut down its Tilt-a-Whirl and Scrambler in September, but the noise, lights, and indifferently safe rides live on in this collaboration between band, filmmaker, animator, and lighting and sound designers, who conspire to tell the story of Steve and Molly, who board a train for Coney Island to face down the Apocalypse. (This wouldnt be our first-choice destination in end times, but maybe they have a predilection for cotton candy.) Winnebagos, sideshow performers, and oceanic oddities are also featured.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Dec. 10. Continues through Dec. 13, 2008
