Juan de Marcos & the Afro-Cuban Allstars
Cuban bandleader/arranger Juan de Marcos, who assembled the Buena Vista Social Club for Ry Cooder, was unable to tour the United States with his All-Stars during the Bush regime. His group now consists of more than a dozen of the island's best musicians, a mixture of old masters and young guns. They will survey the percussive panorama of Cuban music, from religious batumbata beats to guajira-son and contemporary timba jams.
