Let's stop just short of calling these guys the thinking man's Coldplay, because no matter how you slice it, that's still going to be an oxymoron. Still, if you're in the mood for whiny piano-driven British rock, you could do worse than 2004's greatest and whitest hope, who are still delivering respectable records nearly a decade after the initial impact of "Somewhere Only We Know." Those towering anthemic pretensions do sometimes work out well, but even when they don't, they never fully collapse.
